2NE1 sweeping all the music charts, what’s their secret to winning?

Hot newcomer 2NE1 has dominated the kpop music industry! It has successfully managed to make a clean sweep of all the major music charts out there, clinching number ones over and over again.

On 26th July, 2NE1 once again won the Mutizen award at SBS Inkigayo, beating another popular girl group So Nyeo Shi Dae. On 24th July, they clinched Number 1 at Music Bank’s K-chart for “I Don’t Care’, furthermore on 17th july and 23rd July, they too won at Mnet M!Countdown. That is not all, their album sales have surpassed 80,000 and their songs are all rising up on online music charts. 2NE1 debuted last May, and in a mere 3 months has become the top girl group in the music industry these days.

What’s the secret to this unstoppable group?

Firstly, their fashion styles differ from that of the “girly” looks of other girlgroups. They are trendsetters, dressing in baggy hip hop fashion and sexy chic clothing. They’re always coming up with different looks that are unique and fashionable at the same time.
Secondly, the 4 members of the groups have been working hard training before their debut and even after debuting, so as to bring the best performance to the audience. Their dance chereography is powerful and emphasises “girl power”. Furthermore, their collaboration with Big Bang in the song “Lollipop” too raised their popularity in anticipation for the release of their 1st mini album.
Thirdly, 2NE’1 songs not only have strong beats, but also smooth melodies. The lyrics are emotional and well-written, and the raps make the songs even more attractive.

Lastly, each of the 2NE1 members have distinct personalities and performing styles. Leader CL (18) has a strong presence on stage and great rapping skills. She stands out from the current girls in the music industry and does a good job leading her members. Sandara Park (25) who returned from the Philippines andPark Bom (25)and contributed to 2NE1 with their beautiful vocals and soft, sweet tones. Minji, who is only 15 years old and the youngest YG trainee, shines on stage with her dance abilities.

It is not known whether the popularity and sudden interest in 2NE1 is only temporary. We’ll have to continue waiting till the end of the year to see whether 2NE1 continues to deliver and bring out powerful performances as they get more experienced.
