Hey guys! AILEEN is back yo! =) Well its 12.54 am (Brunei time) at the moment and since I drank too much coffee, and obviously there's too much caffeine in my body, I can't sleep so I decided to post something up here. Well these are just random, cause I don't really have much updates on them for the time being, soooooo sorry about that! =(
Introduction and debut
Their first song was "Lollipop", digitally released on March 27, 2009. The song was created for LG to promote their Cyon phone, and it was a joint release with Big Bang; the commercial/music video debuted on March 28, 2009. Although it was not a promoted single (as it was an advertisement song, there were problems with network chart eligibility), "Lollipop" proved to be a strong chart hit, going to #1 on various online charts and topping music television network M.Net's online chart for four weeks in a row. However, questions were raised about the group's future, as the song's success was attributed to the popularity of Big Bang.
On April 30, Yang Hyun-suk revealed that 2NE1's debut song would be a hip-hop/reggae song, and that it would be digitally released on May 6, 2009. Titled "Fire", the song was fully written and produced by 1TYM's Teddy Park. Teasers of the song were released on their official website at the beginning of May, with a 20-second clip released on May 1.
"Fire" was released as planned on May 6, with two versions of the music video — a "space" version and a "street" version — released the same day. The videos received over one million views in a day; the view count then increased to two million. The video was also profiled on Perez Hilton's blog.
The group's first performance of the song was on May 17, 2009, on SBS's Inki Gayo. Thus the group's activities began.

2NE1 speaks for themselves 'The 4 types of hurtful comments we got caught up in'
The group that is known as the 'hottest rookies' in the music world today, 2NE1 has had the debut stage. But, even though though the girls have been the biggest interest in music fans, there also has been hurtful comments and rumours surrounding them from their team name to their popularity even before their official debut.
2NE1 members have had an interview with 'My Daily' and have spoken up to the rumours that have been going around the internet. Even though these rumours are hurtful, the members answered 'cooly' without hesitation.
Giving a rookie group a 6 minute debut stage, surprising to everyone.
2NE1's first stage was on the 17th at SBS 'Inkigayo'. That day, 2NE1 debut was a 6 minute long stage disregarding the fact that they were rookies. Usually debut stages of rookies are usually 2-3 minutes long. This caught the eyes of netizens because of the differential treatment they got from other groups.
CL said "When i first heard that we had a 6 minute stage, I was thinking that we needed to try harder. Even though we hear bad things, that time of our stage had been given to us, and thought we should try harder because we got such a long time for our debut stage."
Sandara Park, scandal because of the Philippine version of "We got married?"
Sandara Park who had return to Korea after doing activities on the Philippines, recently had a photo shown of her and a male model, which has been a huge interest between netizens. After this photo had been shown, it had spread into a scandal. A spokesperson from YGE said that this photo was taken when Sandara was starring in the Philippines version of 'We got married'
Sandara also explained. "In the Philippines, there is something called 'Love team.' You can think of it as an upgraded version of 'We got married.'It is a program where the staff of the broadcasting centre put two people together to act like a real couple while doing activities. If that couple has a lot of popularity, they keep acting like a couple, but if they don't the couple changes." She had also put out there that it was hard for her as there were systems that she didn't really understand.
Sandara, sexy concept photoshoot, netizens get interested.
Just before their debut, Sandara's sexy concept photos got shown which caused embarrassment. These photoshoot happened back in the day when Sandara was working in the Philippines, for a male magazine. She was wearing a corset and bikni in a sexy atmosphere was was a shock.
At this, Sandara did not give an explanation. Instead she said "Because i was working in the Philippines a lot, these bad things have arisen (laughs)." Through this photoshoot, Sandara had shown a different side to her.
The name mix-up
'Female Big bang' which they had been called before debut, had originally meant to be called 21(To Anyone). But soon after it was known that there had been another singer with that name and YGE changed 21 to 2NE1. With the changing of the name, Boss Yang Hyun Suk said an officialy apology.
The members liked the name change. CL said "Because of our name change, i think we have gotten more interest. The meaning of the name is good and the style you write our name got prettier."

[NEWS] Starnews interviews YG's CEO on 2NE1 & 2NE1 receives a gift from Interscope?
by Aileen | 5:56 AM in News | comments (3)
2NE1 is heating things up in the KPOP music industry with the recent release and debut performance of "Fire." Kim Gwang Myeong of Moneytoday Starnews recently interviewed YG Entertainment's founder and CEO, Yang Hyun Suk at a restaurant near Hongik University in Seoul. Translation credits to ming^ming of Soompi.
Q: 2NE1 has gained great attention not only from the domestic market, but also from overseas since their debut.
A: Both ‘Lollipop’ and ‘Fire’ MV's were posted on one of the biggest US Celebrity Blogs Perez Hilton, in addition 2NE1’s debut stage that aired on the 17th was made known to the public on his blog again. Perez Hilton is a famous blogger in US, I think it’s amazing to receive such attention from him. (I added, "Yes, it definitely is!" Sorry for the interuption, lol.)
Q: What kind of activities have been scheduled/planned for 2NE1 in the future time?
A: Originally, we've planned to release 2NE1’s new mini album in July. However, in order to have an onslaught marketing strategy, we're planning to bring forward the release date to June. It’s not that we didn't think of having them appear on variety shows, but we plan to control their appearances for the moment. Big Bang used the same strategy by gaining certain popularity, and only then did they take part in variety shows. We also one to use this same formula for 2NE1.
Q: 2NE1 has different characteristics compared to the typical girl group. Not only their strong music but their style is also unique.
A: I think that the keyword for the current music industry is ‘Neutral’. The most popular female music makers in the US, don't have the complete feminine personality. 2NE1 is a group that is not only popular among the males but also gaining great popularity from the females. You can feel it from the SBS Inkigayo live broadcast on the 17th.
Q: What kind of singer do you want to produce in future?
A: I don't want to simply create a simple popular singer, but a singer that people will look up to. In an era full of media and public opinion, it's hard to create buzz without taking part in broadcast shows. However, the most important thing is still based on the planning stage / concepts and the actual music. There won't be much broadcast activities for the girls in the near future. Even though without any broadcasting, both ‘Lollipop’ and ‘Fire’ has still occupied first place on many charts.
Q: Things you would like to say to the public.
A: This is a long marathon, 2NE1 has just taken the first step in it. They've only shown a little bit of the whole picture, so please don't simply formulate an opinion on the start. They will improve and progress to be the best group, please continue showing your support and interest."
As for the $400 - $600 Beats by Dr. Dre headphones you've seen 2NE1 wear (and Se7en), it was a customized gift from Interscope Records President Jimmy Iovine. According to this article by Cyworld, he saw a clip of 2NE1 member CL before she debuted and thought she had great potential. He likes 2NE1's music so he got his hookups to send them the headphones. Dr. Dre used to work with Interscope Records back in the Death Row Records days and also back in 2001, he sold a share in his Aftermath Entertainment Label to Interscope for $52,000,000. So Dr. Dre could hook Jimmy up since he has a good working relationship with them. Thanks to everyone who sent in tips.

[NEWS] Girl groups of 2009, break the original debut formula
by Anonymous | 4:54 PM in News | comments (0)
- Strategies like increasing popularity without appearing on TV variety shows, some even gain attention right before their debut
The recent debut rookies have already gained attention without appearing on variety shows, thus break the original way of debut. 2NE1, T-ara, After School who makes their debut this year hasn’t appeared on any other shows beside music shows, yet gaining attention.
This is something different to other rookies who have released their albums and continuously appearing on various shows in order to promote themselves. First of all, 4-membered girl group 2NE1 took part in a CM song ‘Lollipop’ last month, together with Big Bang, and this has attracted others’ attention.
Due to this momentum, 2NE1 has released their first single in this month, and has increased their popularity with ‘Fire’. Unlike other girl groups that are having cute, sexy concept, they appeared as 4-cha won characters, and have outlined the image of Dance Girl, all these have especially make them different from the typical girl groups.
…….. (unrelated to 2NE1)
About this current trend, KTF music representative stated: “rather than having the characteristic of a group member to attract attention individually, recently there is this concept that letting the group as a whole to strongly perform the song which is suitable for them, hence making it more memorable”, continue explained “the vocal and dancing skills of rookies nowadays can be as good as the existing singers, and (they are) fresh as well, this is also one of the main factors that they get recognition from the netizen within a short time.
